- ABOUT THIS TETRIS
- =================
-
- This version of Tetris was developed on a 8 Mhz IBM XT with 640k and EGA
- graphics. There are the minimum system requirements. Even though the game
- uses EGA graphics, VGA users probably won't be disappointed by the colorful
- display.
-
- This version of Tetris is shareware, so you may copy it as many times as
- you wish. I'm not asking for any money for this game, but I would like to hear
- any comments you may have about it. My address is at the end of this file.
-
- There are four files that come with Tetris. When distributing it, please
- make sure you include all these files:
-
- TETRIS.EXE the actual game
- TETRIS45.GRA a graphics file
- TETRIS45.TTL another graphics file
- TETRIS.DOC this documentation file
-
- You may also have a file called TETRIS.SCO. This holds the high scores
- and can be erased to reset the high scores. You don't have to distribute this
- file with the others.

- EVOLUTION OF TETRIS
- ===================
-
- There are probably more versions of Tetris than you could count on a long
- afternoon. The original game was created by a Russian named Alexi Pazitenov.
- Since then the game has been re - made by commercial software companies, arcade
- game companies, and of course endless hoards of shareware developers. This game
- is yet another shareware version. You may freely copy it and distribute it as
- you wish, and you are encouraged to do so.

- TETRIS Version 4.5
- By Shamus Young Page 2 of 2
-
- This version of Tetris is designed to be a high quality game that will run
- on as many machines as possible. The game will run on a machine as slow as
- 8 Mhz and only requires EGA graphics. The game is so small, the entire game
- can fit on a 360k floppy even uncompressed.
-
- Even though this game uses EGA graphics, VGA users should still check out
- the graphics. This program uses dithering to simulate 15,360 (16 x 15 x 64)
- colors. If you look closely at the background on either side of the board, or
- at the word TETRIS at the title screen, you can see the dithering. The
- dithering is what makes the colors "fade" from cyan to green to yellow in the
- background. Usually, you have to have VGA for a smooth effect like this.

- TETRIS IS SHAREWARE
- ===================
-
- I encourage you to give this game to your friends, enemies, and total
- strangers. Upload it to your favorite BBS, pass it out, whatever, as long as
- you follow these guidelines:
-
-
- *Do not charge any money for the game. If you were charged for this game
- then YOU HAVE BEEN DUPED!
-
-
- *Do not alter the program in any way. This includes adding a Trojan virus
- to it, putting your name in the game credits, messing with the
- graphics, or altering this .DOC file. I've seen these tricks done
- over and over and they're just NOT FUNNY anymore. Distribute the game
- just the way it was given to you.
-
-
- *Distribute all the files. There's only four files that make up the game,
- so it's hard to imagine anyone loosing one of them.
-
-
- I'm not asking for any money for this game, mostly because there are so
- many versions of Tetris out there, I really don't think I could ever get any
- money for it. However, if you have any comments / questions / criticisms for
- me then I'd be glad to hear from you. My Address is:
